Speaking of Gettysburg...

Just wanted to say that I am back here in Gettysburg for Phenomenology 103! I got here a day early and was hoping to go do some self tours as I picked up this wonderful book complete with some great maps and I have done more research into the area and into the Civil War with the battle of Gettysburg itself AND! I even created a great civil war playlist! But blah it is raining and so that put a lil snafu into my plans.

Be sure and check back however later as once I get back, I'll be bringing you all up to date on the past investigations/events that I've attended between the two Gettysburg events! :)

I want to share about my Olympus recorder next and then I'll be following that up with the Waverly Hills investigation, Alcatraz and I just returned from a 2nd trip to the Stanley Hotel 2 weeks ago! Plus more on equipment and also people and groups I've encountered. I will be showcasing them as I go along so be sure and check back now and again!

Also coming up is Coffey Talk in Dallas with Chip Coffey complete with an investigation at the Adolphus Hotel! WOO HOO! I am so excited! Lots of great, fun stuff coming up!

Gettysburg, PA March 2010 --Extras

Just another note about some of the people who were there at the Phenomenology 102, feel free to click on some of their names as I've linked some of their own sites....

Bill Bean
He gave a really great class about some of his own experiences, very moving speaker!

Ami Bruni & Britt Griffith
I got to meet them both and wow are they tall! Very nice and gorgeous pics, they were very friendly and approachable!

Paranormal Sarah
Of course I got to talk with her again and she was offering readings but I did not get one from her this time but it was great to see her and chat!

Scotty Roberts
I did get a tarot reading by Scotty! Nice deck he is using and the reading was most accurate and I got to talk shop of tarot cards with him as I also, do readings myself and maybe looking into doing so in the future!

Patrick Burns
When I talked to Dave about what happened with our GPS, I asked him who was the one most techie guy there in the room? He said Patrick Burns. So off we went to see what his opinion was on what happened and if he could offer an alternate solution. After relating our tale, he said that it was not the satellite as was previously suggested to us by another paranormal team we had talked to. GPS' do not work like that. So he thought this was very wild and not inconceivable that it was something paranormal!

Chip Coffey
His gallery reading was great as always! I didn't get picked and began to wonder what I would ask anyway? But his energy and wit and straightforwardness just always cracks me up and makes me smile! Thanks Chip!

Tiffany Johnson
I did attend Tiffany's gallery reading and it was great! She asked who the Leo was that was in the group and I was the only Leo in the room! She talked of my mother and it was very wild! It near made me cry however to hear of some of what she had to say! Tiffany also gave us a copy of one of her little books and I thought that was so nice of her! :)

These were just some of the people there whose lectures or gallery readings I attended! I didn't mention everyone although everyone was really nice! It was a great time!! Thank you Dana & NEPI for a great event!

Gettysburg, PA March 2010 --Part 3

The next day, we returned to that road and realized it is called Confederate Ave! It is where the Rebels had held the Yankees in a peach orchard. We saw monuments in honor of the men who died there. Freaky! We did not notice if there was a Neil among them but I'll be going back to find out! Click on the words Confederate Ave above to get a little history and see some pics of the place we were led to that night!

We did find Sach's bridge and took some pics and tried some evps as well in that location.

That night, we were off to the orphanage for our investigation. Now the orphanage is now a Soldier's Museum. Grandpa Jones from HeeHaw had bought it and made it into the Soldier's Museum. The basement is where children were held against their will by a nasty woman by the name of Rosa who from what we have learned, tortured these poor orphans. I won't go into the details of the vile things she did but she was a piece of work, I can tell you that.
This is a very creepy place with a full diorama with animals and mannequins dressed in period clothes and going downstairs is really a spooky experience! I learned then how important a flashlight can be so you can see where you are going! Tina and I managed to get all the way to end of the pathway by some glass cases and began to try to do an evp session there although there were others who were talking. She then felt something behind her to which I backed up against the wall so I would not have anything behind me. Upon entering the orphanage, she felt a burning to the back of her neck, that is significant if you know the history of some of the things Rosa did to the children.
Once down in the basement, there is a little room where Rosa used to stuff the kids in there for punishment. A serious paranormal group went into the little room, cramming themselves in there while Tina and I stayed at the entrance with a camera man from a local news station. His equipment was setting off my ghost meter I will note so he eventually turned it off. I set my meter upon the threshold of the entrance to this room and we began to talk quietly and ask questions.
I was wanting to communicate with a child spirit or entity and it appeared that we were able to do just that! My Ghost Meter began to light up as if seemingly in response to my direct questions. Now this got the attention of the group inside the room as when it lights up, it is bright and you can't miss it!
This was very exciting for I could ask it to stop and move away and then come closer to make it light up again. Coincidence? I don't believe so.

Later on, we moved out to the main room where pebbles had been tossed at others and we tried to get an evp. I felt a few cold spots and chills now and then, but other than that, it was pretty quiet.

After everyone left the next day, the hotel felt so eerily quiet and empty. All the energy had just disappeared from it, evaporated! Almost ghostly....spooky!!

We did get to roam into the town of Gettysburg itself a little bit and I am so looking forward to returning and exploring more!

This was a really great experience and I realized it was the 2nd year they were holding this event and so I am looking forward to the next one!

Gettysburg, PA March 2010 --Part 2

Well, I put in the address to Sach's Bridge and once it was calculated in my old Garmin GPS, off we went! Now this is an older GPS and I had not updated it in years! So we went on down the road from the Eisenhower Inn and came up the road for Sach's Bridge and as soon as I turned onto it, bammo! Pylons were there blocking the way in front of a bridge. It did not look like Sach's Bridge at all from the pics of it I had seen online. Once our car turned onto the road, the GPS proclaimed we had reached our destination and then returned to normal mode, awaiting a new destination and simply showing us the map. We got out of the car and went over to the plaque and read that this was the Eisnehower Bridge. Cool, but not what we were looking for and obviously, we would not be able to cross it. We would have to go around. So I get the idea that maybe we should put the address in again and drive away from this spot and let it recalculate to which it would take us perhaps to the other side? So we do this. It keeps trying to have me make a U-turn, I ignore it and finally, it gives me directions and I follow it and what do you know? It takes us right back to where we were before! DOH! Again, shutting off to say we reached our destination. Well heck!

So then I talk to Tina and get another idea that maybe, the road is two words and not one and I should try to enter the address like that? I reached out towards the GPS and without touching it, it recalculated on it's own! Ok now that was just freaky deaky! So, we decide to follow it and see what it might lead us. A new route and by now, it's late and dark out and we are two women alone. We pull down this other road and it T-s to the same name of the road as we were on and that is the road that Sach's Bridge is on. The GPS tells us to take a left, so we do and the road becomes just a grassy track and we can't see around the bend. There is nothing but blackness up in front of us. We began to get the woogies and I got out and wanted to walk down there but, two women alone, late at night, no lights....yea....we were so weirded out and had no idea what was up ahead of us, that we just decided to go back to the hotel, see if we could find Chris Fleming who we had heard had been to Sach's Bridge so he would know where it was and maybe we could get him to come with us even?
So I put in the address for the hotel and we back out of there slowly and the GPS takes us a different way back to the hotel, making a right on this road that I had no idea what it was called. Making the right, there appeared before us, a cannon! Yikes! I didn't hit it ;) but instead began to go down this lonely type of road where there was a large parking lot there as if for buses to pull in and maybe picnic? or something anyway.
We get near the end of the road and Tina turns to me and says, you know...something made us go this way. We should stop and do an evp session. I agreed and so backed up slowly to the one parking lot and we got out our equipment. The first, was the Shack Hack. It was kinda chilly so I rolled down the window and stuck the antennae out and turned on the radio and began to ask some questions. Now, our first biggest mistake here was that we did not have the recorder on. DOH! I so wish we had now, for once something is said, it's gone unless you recorded it.
Well we kept getting the same message from the same guy, just mixed up in order of the words each time. "Neil, shot, dead."
We had no clue the significance of where we were at the time, so we turned off the radio and decided to do an evp session. Tina is asking the questions and as we were told in a class that Chip Coffey gave,

that spirits are all around you all the time and you need not go to a cemetary to find them, They are even in your car! Ok so let's give it a test shall we? We turn on my recorder and Tina asks if there is anyone with us in the car? Playback revealed nada. All quiet. Then she asks if there is someone here who messed with our GPS, in our little box here, to where she points. She described it like that for if they were from the Civil War times, they would not know what  GPS was.
Playback....tell me what you hear!

Tina has looped it and amplified it so you can hear a woman's voice, at least I hear it, do you!?

Gettysburg, PA March 2010

I realized as I was writing up what happened at the Waverly Hills Sanatorium, that I was getting ahead of myself. Gettysburg was the next place I went to, March of 2010 for Phenomenology 102!

This event...

was put on by the

Back to PA, my home state! I was really looking forward to going to Gettysburg. For all that I was born and bred in PA, I have not ever ventured to Gettysburg.

I was always attracted to it and wanted to visit it, especially with my father being a Civil War buff, but I had not done so until now. This time, my friend Tina from Nova Scotia was able to join me! She has started her own site now as a helpful guide for would be ghost hunting enthusiasts. She is also the one who has put up our evps we have collected thus far up on YouTube! Check her out at:
http://www.ghost-guide.com/

We flew into Harrisburg and got a rental car and then drove on down to the Eisenhower Hotel where we would be staying for this event. It's a really nice hotel and huge with a couple buildings with lots of rooms to house tons of people! Great area for banquets or large meetings.
http://www.eisenhower.com/
We got a room in the adjacent building to the main hotel and settled in. Heading over to the front entrance for registration, I saw Sarah there right off! I was glad to see her and talked with her a bit as I was wanting to share a tarot card reading story with her, which I have yet to do!
I promise Sarah I will when I see you next!! ;)

This was the first event that I attended that was not hosted by Dave from Darkness Radio. It had the same sort of feel as his events and even more so like the Psychic Awakenings with all the vendors, however, at this event, there were alot more paranormal teams there displaying their evps and equipment and the like at their tables.
There were a bevy of classes to choose from and it was so hard to pick which ones to go to as unfortunately, many of the classes were held at the same time in different rooms. We so hated to have to choose as we really wanted to attend them all!
Of course, we signed up for Chip Coffey's gallery reading and Tiffany Johnson's as well.

For this event, they offer several locations to choose from for your ghost hunt! That was a really great idea to divide us up with whichever one we wanted and also the amount of time was also different, some 4 hours, some 6 or 8 hour investigations depending on what night or location. We chose the orphanage as we were told that we would definitely experience some activity there.

I do have to say the classes here at this event were really great! Again Dave never disappoints and I enjoyed the lectures a great deal. Something weird happened however while Chris Fleming was giving his class. I was sitting towards the back and one time when I looked up, there was this white glow all around him. I thought it was a trick of the lighting, maybe the ambient light or reflective? Yet it stayed with him the entire time. I nudged Tina and asked her if she could see that white shroud of light around Chris? It was most visible around his shoulders and then up around his head. She looked and looked and said no, she didn't see a thing. I shrugged it off then, thinking it was just nothing or my own mind or trick of the light from where I was sitting.

Many of the vendor tables were selling different pieces of equipment and I had been wanting to get an Ovilus but couldn't afford it so I opted to pick up a Shack Hack. This is just a Radio Shack radio that has been hacked a bit so that it will scan the am channels over and over again. The theory is that spirits or entities can use the frequencies and white noise to communicate with you. I asked how to use it and purchased it from Dave's table. Tina and I took it upstairs during a break to our room and I thought to turn it on and give it a quick whirl before we had to return downstairs for a class. I turned it on and began the scan and I ask if there is anyone there who would like to talk to us? I can hear it scanning, scanning...scanning and then I ask, if there is, could you please tell us your name? I then hear a voice say, "David". Ah awesome! David! We say hello David and I ask him then if he would like to talk to Tina? He said "No.". We laughed and I said ok, so you want to talk to me? What would you like to say? Do you have a message you would like to give me? Then, the next thing it said was: "Druid, listen."
I had a hard time making out the first word, it almost sounded like 'Do it" or something but my friend Tina, gasped and she said did you hear what it said? She said it was "Druid, listen!" This really freaked us out and why? Because I was enrolled in a Druid course and am a member of OBOD, the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids! Now, could this have been a radio voice? Yes. But the chances of it saying something so off the wall on radio as Druid? Not likely! And the only person who knew that I was studying Druidry, was Tina. I had not shared that with anyone else.
We thanked David however as the message was very important for me and we turned off the Shack Hack and went on downstairs to the next class.

The first night, I took off to see friends of mine from high school who live not far from Gettysburg. I had not seen them in years and they thought I was nuts I think to be going ghost hunting! LOL It was so great to see them however as she was my best friend in high school and he was one year ahead of us. Her and I had all our senior classes together, everyone of them we scheduled together and it so made our senior high school year the best ever! What a blast!

Next night, we decided to head off to Sach's bridge on our own.

Sach's Bridge is said to be very haunted and it was not one of the locations listed for investigation. I had researched it however before getting to PA and had the address all set and I knew I could just put it right into my GPS and no worries!
Riiiiight........
